Portage Series: Ancient Wisdom

The Portage Series is inspired by the late 1700's & early 1800's when adventurers went into the wilderness to trap & trade furs. The popularity of the beaver hat had caused trappers to drive the European beaver to extinction. All eyes turned to a young, expanding nation where explorers seized the opportunity to venture west & north, discovering a vast wealth of natural resources. The Hudson Bay Company & the Northwest Company received furs from the French, English, & the Voyageurs, & eventually the mountain men as exploration opened up the West. Born in antiquity & surviving the centuries, the pictographs & petroglyphs explorers discovered must have been art to contemplate, guides to new exploration to discover Ancient Wisdom.
