Portage Series: River Road

The Portage Series is inspired by the late 1700's & early 1800's when adventurers went into the wilderness to trap & trade furs. The popularity of the beaver hat had caused trappers to drive the European beaver to extinction. All eyes turned to a young, expanding nation where explorers seized the opportunity to venture west & north, discovering a vast wealth of natural resources. The Hudson Bay Company & the Northwest Company received furs from the French, English, & the Voyageurs, & eventually the mountain men as exploration opened up the West. Unexplored beauty surrounds the Voyageur choosing the less traveled route. The music of the soaring eagle or the wind in the pines, a surprise around every bend are the rewards on the River Road.
